Camping with 5 of my dear friends and their families????? Why, heck ya!
The camping bug is out! We love to camp. So do some of our friends. Thus, we all decided to join together for a group family camp out. It was a first of what I hope becomes a yearly tradition. :) Camping solo is fun. Camping with one other family is fun. Camping with your extended family is fun. Camping with a den of Honey Badger Friends is definitely fun!
We took over Indian Creek Campground August 9-12. None of us had ever camped here but the online pictures and the ability to have fun no matter where we are assured us that it didn't matter too much where we ended up. Since we had only reserved this trip a few weeks earlier it was hard to find a campground that had 6 camp sites by each other. All of the huge group sites were reserved around here so we happened upon Indian Creek. Seemed to be perfect for what we needed. :) It's right next to a lake, so despite nobody owning a boat we were able to go to the roped off swimming area and let the kids play in the water one of the afternoons. The Beckstead family graciously allowed us all to throw the kids bikes and scooters in their trailer and hauled the gear up to the camp site for us. Pretty sure that was Ren and Elsie's favorite part. "Dirt bike riding" through all the trails with their friends and having scooter races on the paved roads.
It was so much fun to be there! (Can you tell I'd love to go back???) It was like our own little family reunion but with our dearest friends! Our Friend Family.
We had the Jeremy and Sara Beckstead clan, Ourselves, the Marco and Kelly Monteblanco clan, the Keven and Tiffany Child clan, the Aaron and Kristin Plummer clan, and the Dyana and Jeremy Johnson clan. That's 12 adults and 18 kids. See, our own little family reunion! One little setback, 2 days before we left the Forrest service issued a ban on campfires. Rude!!! Safety/schmafety! Kev and Tiff were brilliantly awesome and bought a propane campfire ring that became our main hub each night once it got dark. It was weird not having our own real camp fire though. Next year there better be smarter people in camping land so there doesn't have to be a fire ban making the rest of us suffer. We had our propane camp stove and battery lanterns and such, but the fire, I really missed the fire.
We enjoyed lots of card games, chit chatting, FOOD, laughing, treats, bike rides and scooter rides, walks/ late night under the stars walks, exploring the trails, swimming in the lake, did I mention laughing? We have a few little running silly Youtube videos that the Honey Badger gang likes to frequently reference and laugh about. One being the Ew! video http://youtu.be/sIhU3mQTp1U from Jimmy Fallon. The other is the "Honey Badger" video http://youtu.be/ec05489qcN0 from Randall on YouTube. So this weekend was full of quotes from the two. We named our gang the Honey Badgers in honor of the dumbest/silliest/only funny at 2:00 am "Honey Badger" video.
Thanks for the camping trip Honey Badgers! We must go again next year!!!! "Look, says that bird!"
Ew! Phone Book....too many names.
Until next year...
