Hypothetically speaking, wouldn't you love it if you had the joy of running errands on a snowy, slippery icy afternoon and your first quick stop was to the pharmacy to pick up your prescription? You hand the ever so kind pharmacist the new prescription and she so sweetly and kindly and just the nicest person ever lovingly and gently explains that "Could you please wait for just a half hour because we will of course fill your prescription as fast as we can because we are so efficient and kind?" Then, hypothetically speaking you gratefully usher yourself and kids to the waiting area and look forward to the next 30 minutes of happily waiting. Your kids can sit some what quietly for oh, 10 minutes -i did say somewhat- and then they get restless. You then think, hypothetically speaking that your noisy kids sitting there will encourage the very helpful happy pharmacist to move your needs to the front of the line. Finally after 40 minutes the same ever so kind and sweet pharmacist again with love and adoration explains that your insurance does not cover this prescription. So in this hypothetical situation you would then kindly and patiently explain with out gritted teeth that this is the same prescription this usually amazing pharmacy fills each month with out a problem for years now. The really nice lady who is not annoyed and frustrated with you and looks like she loves her job replies to you in a never exasperated tone that she will run it again. You are so happy because waiting at the pharmacy was in fact the only thing you wanted to do this afternoon. There are no other errands you need to run and your kids love to sit in this never ever boring waiting room as long as possible while lots of sick people come and get their own prescriptions accidentally coughing and slobbering all over you sharing the joy of their germs. So you sit..... and sit..... and sit. After lovingly calling your name the same amazing helpful pharmacist explains that she can not fill this prescription because it is a new year. You don't scream in your mind that you want to punch somebody or hit or kick or scream or jump over the counter to fill your own prescription but instead you explain so kindly, ONCE again that you have not changed insurance, or prescriptions or anything so could they PLEASE fill it? She of course with so much love it would make you cry, lets you sit and wait again. Just a few seconds later not another 10 minutes or anything, she lets you know that she has efficiently called you doctor and asked them to fax in a new okay on this prescription for the year 2009. This makes so much sense to you since we all know that at the end of a year everything from the previous year is null and void and vanishes and nothing I guess counts. So if you said something mean or ate too much junk food or were mad at your family, its okay. Every year apparently anything that was true and accurate before does not count! Isn't that wonderful. And so you decide to place a helpful call to your said doctor and nobody answers since it is by now almost 5. After several different numbers you reach a very patient helpful woman who assures you that she is just sure I'm their top priority and the world will stop so I can get my medicine. You hang up the phone happily and leave the store overcome with emotions of glee that you got to spend an hour of your day in this pharmacy and leave with out the prescription you needed and look forward to coming back tomorrow to experience the same joy. Since today they cannot happily fill my prescription and would love to see my smiling face tomorrow for probably another hour or two. Hypothetically speaking of course you hope that the delightful pharmacist who willingly assisted you today will get a miraculous vacation on the morrow and suddenly not be there to assist you since she did such a wonderful job with you today and deserves the reward of a day off. Wouldn't that be lovely? Let just hope hypothetically speaking that since tonight is the last pill of your old bottle that by tomorrow they will have the ability and desire to lovingly fill your prescription so you don't have to resort to drastic measures, hypothetically speaking that may lead the local news to do a cover story about your methods of persuasion and gratitude for letting the said pharmacy let you wait and wait in their lovely store to get a prescription filled for an hour then not fill it and request the presence of your honor the following day to see you once more. Hypothetically speaking wouldn't you just love it ????? I mean seriously who wouldn't? And then hypothetically speaking your kids are not exhausted and hungry and you don't have to drag them to 2 more stores since the first one was out of stock on the item you needed and by then its dinner time and you have this wonderful headache and now do not have the joy of wanting to fix a meal so you have to stop and grab some grub and do not feel frustrated that your afternoon is shot and the sun never shone today and its too freakin cold to go outside and you are not annoyed with life and noise and anything or anybody and just can't wait to go back to the joyful pharmacy tomorrow? And hypothetically speaking wouldn't you all love a day just like that? I'll give you some time to think it over. I know, I know, sounds like a splendid experience right? Hypothetically speaking of course.

Alicia, it sounds like you need a hug! You are so funny. I haven't seen anything crazy on the news today having to do with pharmicists, so maybe you showed up and, hypothetically speaking, of course, they had your prescription filled and wrapped with a pretty pink bow on top. I might call first if I were you! Love you!
Oh, dear. Don't you just love working with people who have no desire to work with you and, worse yet, treat you like you have no idea what you are talking about!?!?! I understand they have to follow their protocol, but come on people! Don't treat me like I'm an idiot just because you are too incompetent (or lazy) to find out what the real problem is! Hopefully today was a better day!
Dear Alicia,I'm so glad your life is going so well, hypothetically speaking!
